Stop: 0xc0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\Software or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

What could be wrong with my Windows 2000 or pc?

I get this and sometimes this error:

windows could not start because the following file i mising or corrupt:
    \windows\sytem32\config\system

you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the orginal setup CD-rom.
Select "r" a the first sreen to start repair

I know how to fix them. I have fixed it several times. Through recovery console copying registry files from repair folders etc. But the main question:
WHY these errors apear? And only after i shutdown my pc. System is ACPI compatible. Errors apppear also when i shutdown pc with button and also when i simply start-shutdown. Maybe system makes shutdown too fast? Cause it shows : Windows is shutting down, 2-3 seconds and power off. Is it normal?
Plllllease help me to fix this problem. I didn't have these problems with windows XP, only with win2k. I checked memory, harddrive is 250 GB new WD (i had also one another hdd), i checked motherboard and all other hardware.
    Maybe some problems with acpi?

Did you use any software that cleanes the registry? I've had bad experiences with such software in the past, the problem you're having reminded me of one of the symptoms I had.

Yes, cleanreg and symantec and some other soft. Don't think that problem is in some software. I reinstalled windows 2 times. No extra software was installed.

I only use RegVac registry cleaner as others have given me problems in the past, RegVac covers several cleaning methods and also states which methods are safe to use and which need caution when used. Some registrycleaners do more harm than good, I'm unsure as to what could cause a problem in registry otherwise.

As for 2-3 seconds shutdown time, if have a fast or fairly new computer without all kinds of programs running in the background 2-3 seconds could be normal, although it is pretty fast. By altering the time windows allows programs to close in the registry and simply disabeling shutdown sounds you can also increase shutdown time, maybe you've already done so?

As for your problem being related to the systems power management, did you change acpi settings in the BIOS maybe? Load setup defaults in the BIOS and see what happends then.
