I have a strange problem with one of my computers. A have a RAITE DVD player installed in it on the secondary slave cable. When the computer boots up it will look at this device and the light on the front of the DVD will blink as if spinning the motor of the DVD player looking for a boot or something. No CD is in the dtive and the DVD player as a boot device is not enabled in the BIOS. The boot will take forever to complete if left unattended. The work around for the moment is to open the player during the boot so it will not be searched . This problem started a few months ago and I am growing weary of it. Suggestions please
i know you said you disabled it as your boot device but go back into your BIOS and set as follows: first boot-HDD second boot-removable third boot-network (or equivalent) forth boot- cd rom and set Floopy Boot Seek as DISABLED and report back! and also could try configuring your drive as MASTER
Did all the above and no dice, still does it. As for the hardware change, that will have to wait for the moment. Just got off an 8 hour midnite shift and the last thing I want to do right now is crawl around inside that insubordinate piece of machinery!!!!!!!!!!!
fair enough, well i cant think of anything ATM as i finished work a few hours ago also but report back after the reconfiguration!
