    howdy folks, I have just re-installed XP after 2 years of virtually troublefree use.

    All seemed fine until I opened up 'My Computer',I had an extre (scsi) dvd drive.

    ON checking my hardware list I found an entry for SCSI and RAID controllers,despite not having any such hardware.

    With systen restore turned OFF I deleted both entries (dvd rom and scsi controller) from the list, but each time I Boot up they have returned!!!!:confused:

    Can anyone enlighten me as to what the hell is going on??

    Many thanks

    eddie

    Hardware= MSI M/B,Athlon,640megs memory,nvidia graphics,cd rom,cdrw,Belkin NIC,generic usb card,80gig HD

    Do you have any drive emulation software running like Daemon Tools, or Nero something which could be making a virtual drive for you to load disc images? Usually that type of software makes the PC think that theres a SCSI drive.

    No, Other than Nero burning rom software.

    Open up device manager, find the selected scsi devices/hardware, right click and disable. It's probably drive emulation software you installed like Alcohol 120%, etc.
