Hi, i have a 5.1 surround sopund system on my computer, thing is, it doesent seem like i get any surround sound from media player, is there anyway to play all my mp3's with surround sound?
You could try downloading Audio Effects (DSP) Plug-ins for windows media player, below I've provided 2 which have trial versions for them available. When searching for plugins using the "download plug-ins" feature in Windows Media player I only found these 2; DFX 6; DFX enhances your listening experience with features such as ambience, stereo imaging, 3-D surround sound, dynamic gain boosting, hyperbass, and headphone optimization designed to make audio at any bit rate on any computer sound best. SRS Circle Surround II; The Circle Surround II (CS II) decoder plug-in for Windows Media Player represents the most powerful and flexible way to bring home the surround experience from all existing types of audio in 5.1 surround on your computer. Probably all mp3's are ripped in stereo (2 channel) and using a DSP plug-in will try to simulate surround sound but it isn't real surround sound where 5 or 6 different channels are sent to each individual speaker. A song in stereo enhanced by a plug-in compard to the same song in real 5.1 doesn't sound as good. Actual MP3 surround does exist, but I have yet to experience it. Hope this helps, Greetings.
Probably, if there is such a program it will still be a poor sounding conversion. Enable SRS WOW when playing MP3's using media player, and it will already sound like surround audio. It's not much, I'll search the internet for such programs and get back to you when I find something. Greetings,
Do you have both things, 5.1 speaker system and 5.1 card on your mobo? If yes then it has to come automatically. I am using a sound card as well and it has port for each place of speakers like a port for front speakers, 1 for back speakers, 1 for centre and 1 for the bass. Do you have something simillar?
Yes, but conventional mp3's don't support more than 2 channels of sound. What Willz want's is to upmix the 2 channel mp3 to multi channel mp3's. Be it using sound card features or encoding them in a different format. It doesn't just 'come automatically'.
You are right Pelvis, 5.1 surround requires bigger file size and a good sound decoder... Check this demo software of [link=http://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/amm/download/mp3surround/index.html]MP3 Surround[/link].
The short answer - NO. The only way around would be to use a virtual 3D surrround sound effect. You could achieve this by using a plugin in Media player, or perhaps changing some settings in your audio card configuration software
i have trie multiple plugins in media player, there all pretty crap tbh, and make the sound quality not very good, all they are best at doing is increasing the bass on my subwoofer's.
