Swiftfox dead?

I just saw this thread on Ubuntu forums. Someone found a post in the swiftfox forums (in google cache) that the project was discontinued.

 

And swiftfox wasn't open source so.... it stays dead.

 

sh1t, i use SF, how long will it still be safe for use ?

 

The website swiftfox.com is still online. So I should suggest download your preferred release and save it somewhere.

I knew nothing of this! It appears that Swiftfox has been dead since the end of April! Thanks for spoiling my day with your post, RHochstenbach!

I was using Swiftfox on my second computer which runs Ubuntu Dapper Drake. I was using it as a way to get Firefox 2.0, because Ubuntu still uses Firefox 1.5.

I guess I'll have to steal the Firefox 2.0.0.x .deb(s) from the MEPIS repos

 

Yeah, why doesn't mozilla have packages for firefox and thunderbird? It is quite annoying.

 

Well for whatever reason, Swiftfox 2.0.0.4 has been released and the project appears alive and well! I wonder if the project maintainer changed his mind?

 

I don't know, but it was enough to inspire me to move to Iceweasel.
