My old computer, which I'm upgrading right now has a 250 GB Sata 3gb/s HDD in it, and I just bought a 2 TB drive, that I partioned into Recover (50 GB), OS (250 GB) and storage (1.7 TB), and I'm wanting to swap my entire OS from the current 250 GB HDD onto the os partition of the 2 TB drive, so I can use the old one in an old computer. What's the easiest way to transfer the operating system, along with all the programs that are installed, and the files, userse ect. I don't wanna re-install windows onto the HDD, 'cause I'd have to re-install all my programs, which I really don't wanna do.
Hi Try the Drive Dumper program, in theory it should allow you to pick your source/target partitions. It will take it a while but ones all is copied over you need to either swap the wires around, so it boots from the new hard drive or just change the boot order in BIOS.
