    Hey,

I had a desktop running a windows 2003 server on a 500 GB sata HDD. One day the system crashed and was at the screen showing no bootable disk found. When i tried to connect this 500 gig hdd as a secondary hdd to another desktop as secondary. The HDD gets detected but i am not able to format it and it does not appear in the disk management console as well. Nor i am able to access it from dos prompt gives message invalid drive letter. Please let me know how to format this HDD so I can rebuild the server. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Vic

Maybe the partition table needs rebuilding.
I couldnt recommended specific software to do this but I wouldnt format the drive just yet.

If you still want to format just download a bootable disk. I use killdisk 4.1 to format because I can zero fill using that.

also you may try to format it on new version of windows like vista because 500 gb is very large size maybe windows server can not reformat all this size at once so try to use vista to reformat then install windows server on it and rebuild your server again
