System Memory Help

    i have a 256mb Ram... but whenever i run dxdiag.. my pc only shows 238 mb... my friend said my pc must be on shared memory.., how do i restore my full ram memory??? thanks!!! :ff:

    Integrated video chipsets are well known for stealing system memory to use for itself. It's just one of those things you have to live with i'm afraid.
    In addition, Windows is also well known for not displaying the correct amount of memory, this is another one of those things you have to live with.

    Oh.. i see... so.. i can either buy a higher ram (512) or buy a good vid card??? Thanks for the info!

    If you have 256mb of RAM, and on XP you'll benefit geatly from a memory upgrade. If you have a free slot available you can add another 256mb to total at 512. If you want to play games, you can upgrade to a separate graphics card fi you have an AGP slot. Otherwise theres not much point.
