    Hi there

I have a machine that will not bootup.

I get an error message when the machine starts saying "system.sav" is missing or corrupt.

The machine is a HP Pavillion DV6000 and has a recovery partition.

I do not have the original cd's for this machine.

Is there a way i can get to the the recovery program and do a destructive recovery. I have tried pressing F11 on startup but the same error keeps appearing advising to Insert original cd and do a repair.

I have backed up all the data from the hard drive so that is not an issue.

    Any advice appreciated.

Unfortunately, you're going to need an OS CD in order to recover. Otherwise, if your recovery partition is intact, you could do a re-image. Barring that, you could use an alternate OS (see my sig).
