Hi all you crazy Linux users.... Fresh new installation of Debian Lenny on my desktop. Every time I start the system it tels me that the system could not set the time to - here it will state a time which is way, way off the mark. The date is correct but the time is not. Then after the system loads the desktop, I can see that the time is set to UTC, e.g. one hour ahead... I have set the time zone a number of times and the time as well but every time I start the PC - the same problem. It is like Lenny forgot.... The BIOS clock by the way is fine and states the correct time and date. Any ideas? Cheers ya'll for looking!
Did not really work.... I think there is a bug but I cannot remember all the various pages I visited trying to understand why this will not work.... AAAnyways I read somewhere that this problem (the system times out waiting for a tick from the HW clock) is fixed in 2.6.25 so I tried and everything is back to normal again. Only to remember that it is not much recommended for noobs like me to use odd Kernel versions...... :doh: The only way to get sense of my HW clock (in 2.6.24) is by issuing the --directisa option. I thought maybe to add it in the hwclock.sh script but got scared..... Anyway, all is well so far with the new Kernel so I'm just going to drop this...
