hi, i have a toshiba tecra M laptop, its been running fine for the past couple of years, i turned it on the other day and any button i press does not respond and makes an error beep sound, the touchpad seems to work but highlights bits that i didn't click. start menu seems to flick up and down fast so i cant use it, but other times it will work. i can open normal windows and did a complete updated avg scan & spybot scan which came up clean. running windows XP. i thought the keyboard might be broken at first but the keys beep when pressed. im not to sure what its issue is, its got me scratching my head. if anyone can help me it will be greatly appreciated. thaks.
ok. key pad beeps also before windows has had a chance to start up. at ome opion it was stopping at the list to boot from. i havnt tried it in safemode since the key pad only responds by beeping. iv read that it could be the key pad controller but i dont want to touch if its not broken.
well, scanning for spyware, adware & viruses are best done in safe mode, even if you've already scanned in nomal mode you still need to scan in safe mode[ot]dump AVG, Avast is much better, and it is also FREE[/ot]
Hi, Do you have an external keyboard you could plug into the laptop to see if that would work? Your keyboard beeping may be because one key is malfunctioning causing a conflict for the others, so when you strike another key it just beeps.
Exactly thats wat came into my mind in first instance.. Do u get any beeps(like when u press any key) when u start ur computer? Also check n see if any of the key is stuck or something...
Hook up an external keyboard if you can. Most laptops have a PS/2 connection on the back. You could use a USB keyboard as well
