Hi, at some point soon i will be wanting to upgrade seen as my good old computer is beginning to struggle with some of the newer games.
I however can't afford to do a great deal so i will be picking one item to change. Tis a hard decision as i have so much crap
    Current stuff:

    Asrock K8 combo-z mobo
    1024mb of corsair ram
    EZcool 550w psu
    754 Amd athlon 3000 (2.0ghz) cpu
    Geforce 6600gt
    Seagate 160gb HDD
    and a few fans
Not forgetting my packard bell 19in Monitor with top line of 85hz

If im gonna change for gaming purposes ive got an incling it should b my cpu or my graph card but with my mobo only supporting 754/939 as its a dual could this be a goer.

I would be inclined to go for a gfx card upgrade, I dont think a new processor would give you as much of a gain in speed. Problem is that you're limited to AGP cards which are becoming scarce. One option is this :-

ebuyer.com - Point Of View 7800GS 256MB AGP TV DVI

    Depends on your budget really.

Right seen as i really don't have the money to be upgrading my graph card im either gonna get a new CRT monitor. found i can get 19" for 30 quid. or will be getting a new processor. Now i know 939 is being phased out but i can get a AMD 64 3800 venice 2.4ghz for £65 which i should be able to clock to 2.6ghz.
Being a gamer would this extra cpu boost give me a noticable effect in games.

seen as i have a 754/939 combo board i might as well use the 939 socket.

    What yer think!!!
