    my specs

Mobo: Asus socket AM2, nForce 430
    CPU: AMD socket AM2, 3500+
    RAM: Corsair VS 1024mb DDR2 667
    GPU: Onboard

Spot the problem. Well to be sure its the gpu.:(

I had the oportunity to sell a really shit celeron to a family friend who paid alot more than what i told her it was worth. Anyway i could upgrade, but i didnt have enough for a whole sys with a gfx card. So to toke the oportunity i got onboard gfx.

I now am desperate for a gfx card and to be honest im swamped with choice and it has overwelmed me. Im confused about what will be the best choice to make. Ive tried but its falls now to u guys.

I cannot afford a 7600gt. it wud have to cost a bit lees than that. This is easier than trying to convert my currency into all yours. So that gives you an idea of my budget.

Its obviously for gaming and i dont oc. Pls give any sugestions and they will be greatly appreciated.:)

I am considering the x1600xt from sapphire. I suppose it plugs the price gap between the 6600gt and the 7600gt. I dont know what the nvidia equivilant for this card is and im concerned about it being 128bit

i think Nvidia equivilant is the 7600GT, the X1900XT will be ok, not a great card, but its going to be better than Intergrated graphics obviously.

Actually the 7600GT is much better but if you can't afford it then that's just not a possibility. I mean if it's not that much more than your X1600XT the 6800GS would be a great card but keep in mind that the 7600GT in 128-bit and due to high clockspeeds can blaze past other cards in it's devision. But if you can find an X800GTO or X800Pro/X850Pro for cheap those would both be great cards that would be better than the X1600XT. They've been around for a little while so it shouldn't be too hard to find them for cheap.

but i dont understand wtf is wrong with this ati card. I mean if u look at the stats:
    fastest mem speed
    12 pipelines
    etc etc

it looks sooo nice on paper but in real life its actually pretty sh1t. I dont understand it.

Ive found an msi 7600gt 256mb ddr3. Is that the same as the gddr3 and is msi an ok brand

Yeah it is strange how it doesn't perform all that well. People used to bash it for it's 128bit interface but then the 7600GT came along and proved it could be done right. Granted it's clockspeeds are higher but it's still odd. Different architecture I guess, must be less efficient.
And yeah DDR3 and GDDR3 are the same thing, the G just denotes 'Graphics' as far as I can determine as you only see it in graphics cards. And MSI does a good job, they have quality coolers/heatsinks and usually a good bundle of software.

check this out. It cost LESS than the x1600 xt than i was gonna get. Its made by sparkle which is what im worried about. There's not alot written about this brand aprt from psu's.

    SPARKLE Computer

I mean its so cheap there must be something wrong with it

Cheap doesn't mean there's something wrong with it. I would look at the warranty, but these days, company's usually follow the nVidia or ATi reference design and may slap a special cooler on it. Also, factor in that better known companies get away with charging a higher price for their name.

Sparkle is a good brand, as I said there really aren't any brands out that that package crap products, the quality of the cooler and software bundle is all that varies but either way it'll run just as well as the reference boards (faster if overclocked naturally). The only thing I have to question is what's up with the 2008 copyright on the bottom of the page? Got me confused.
