Too Much Heat

Hi all. I have built myself a PC but need to know if there is anything I can do to seriously lower the internal heat. The system consists of the following:

Coolermaster Cosmos Case with 3 x 120MM Fans (2 Top, 1 Rear)
Intel Q6600 watercooled by a Thermaltake 760i system
3 x 8800GTX running in Triple SLi with stock fans
2 x Raptor 150GB (used for the operating system etc)
2 x Samsung 1TB Spinpoint
Striker II Formula Motherboard with 2 small fans
4GB (2 x 2GB) Flex II DDR2 9200 RAM
X3 Ultra 1000W PSU
2 x Plextor DVD-RW's

The system runs fine with the sides of the case off but will shut down due to excessive heat with them on. If you know of any cooling systems that would help it will be appreciated.

whats the room temperature? Your heat issue is coming from those three 8800's. Look at this guys rig Official "I just got my GeForce GTX 280 or GTX 260" thread - nV News Forums he has a fan on his cards. You really don't have to many options here, A: you mod your case to add in fans where they are needed. B: keep your side cover off and put a fan blowing inwards on the cards. C: get a water cooling setup for the cards. Option C will be the cleanest of all those options, but also the most expensive.
 
??? there isn't any reason air moving across your cards would mess with your video? it seems like something else was going on there.

It wasn't the air moving across the cards...that was the problem. Of course something else was going on there. I have since given that computer to a friend of mine...and it is still working fine,with the stock fans.
 
Those video cards are kicking out a ton of heat, and I don't know if I believe the hype about negative air pressure and the wind tunnel effect with that cases 3x exhaust, and 1x intake fans. Is it possible to mod the side panel to fit in a 120mm or 140mm intake fan directly blowing on the cards?

Depending on your level of skill...to make that happen...Yes it is possible. I am with you 100% with that kind of thinking.
One just needs to insure that the air coming in has away to exit.
 
it's your graphics cards that are overheating your system, they do put out alot of heat expecially sli. you could try getting a fully watercooled system and using water blocks on the graphics cards, that will definatly sort your system out.
