Just rebuilt a computer, using a Core 2 2.53 3MB cache processor, 2x 1gb Corsair ram, and an Intel DG35EC motherboard. The system refused to boot. The splash screen for the motherboard comes up and most of the time I can get to the bios. Sometimes it continually reboots at this point, other times I can get into the CD to install Windows XP. However, during the process of installing XP it says that it cannot copy some files. I have also gotten blue screens during the install process. I've since replaced the IDE drive with a brand new SATA drive and have had the same result, and I have run Memtest and it has indicated no errors (albeit I have only let one pass run). Any advice?

Edit: I have also verified that the XP disc is good. It loaded all of the setup files into memory on another computer.

When I cannot boot into the bios, the system will reboot at the splash screen. CPU temp seems to be OK in the bios at 39-40, and the power settings are good, not fluctuating. Just to be safe though, I did try a different power supply and had the same result.

I'm going to ship the motherboard back to TigerDirect and see about a replacement.... mainly because that's just about the ONLY thing that hasn't been changed. We'll see what happens.

If there's any other advice though, I'd appreciate it. I hate not being able to fix something.

the bios problem is that you have to press the del key at the right time coz some mobos have a flaw that ignores the keyboard untill a certain point, best way to do it is to keep pressing the del button (or f2 or whatever it is) untill it appears

from what i understand your tellin me is that xp setup wont install, as such it wont boot up on the hdd and the cd is fine? - does sound like a problem with the ram then or possibly your cd /dvd drive or ide cable for it

i know you ran memtest but may still be problems with ram, best bet so far is buggered cd drive or cable

i strongly recommend Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK for pc components its much cheaper and ive had no problems what so ever with them, plus they dont try to fool its customers by selling its products with nines (ie, 199.99, or 49.99 etc) - companies, in my opinion, that sell with nines are just greedy coz they profit more from it by fooling you (psylogically it looks a loottt lower price when they say £19.99 instead of £20.00)

It would have to be both sticks of RAM, which is possible I'm sure, because I've tried running it with one or the other. I've also replaced the IDE drive with a SATA drive, and have also changed the IDE cable three times that I'm using with the CD ROM. I've also tried two other CDROM drives. Would a bad IDE channel on the motherboard itself cause such reboots?

rebooting AND bad file copying suggests a prob with mobo yeh, if you can try to flash it with an upgrade, you can do it in bios get it from the manufacture website

if problem still exists then ye, prob mobo. i'd first swap the cpu if u have a spare, it may also be possible the cpu contacts are a bit dodgey i had severe ram problems with my mobo it turned out to be me cpu contacts so worth a try takin out the cpu and checkin the pins are alligned on the board
