Hey there! Good, to be here, although wish it was under better circumstances.

Just bought myself a new Desktop PC, and despite my order with the company, they installed Vista Home Basic (32bit) on my machine for me. When making my order I asked for them to put XP sp2 on it as it was one of the options.

Anyway, it arrived early this afternoon, and I quickly set about setting it up, and after 10 minutes toying ith Vista I decided enough was enough and inserted my previous XP disc from my old laptop, and ran it from boot.

I formatted the C: partition installed XP onto the drive, but when I rebooted it doesn't go past the following screen...

(this is what the text says on the screen)

    "AMIBIOS(c) 2005 American MegaTrends, Inc.
    ConRoe1333-D667 BIOS p1.20
    CPU : Intel (r) Pentium (r) Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60ghz

    Press F2 to run Setup
    Single-Channel Memory Mode
    1016mb OK
Auto Detecting SATAII 1 ...IDE Hard Disk
Auto Detecting IDE1 Master. ATAPI CDROM
    SATAII 1 : ST3250820AS 3.AAE
Ultra DMA Mode-5, S.M.A.R.T. Capable and Status OK"

I've tried pressing F2 to enter the BIOS menu but to no avail. Rebooted several times, and turned off, unplugged power source, but still no advance when starting up.

So I'm a bit stuck really, thought I'd take it to someone who knows alot more than me (ie. you guys :p )

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read my post, and it's greatly appreciated for those who can suggest something.

    Adam.

if you can't get into the BIOS, maybe a setting in the BIOS is preventing BIOS access, first i'd try reseting the BIOS

this thread tells you how to do that

do you have onboard grfx ? & are you using it, as you need to disable onboard grfx in the BIOS to use a grfx card

Edit: obviously those instruction may not apply exactly to your system
