I have got one of those usb things for my pc to watch tv on my laptop whilst I am in halls of residence at uni.

The signal is pretty poor - it will only pick up around 34 channels, most of these being radio, and won't pick up any of the normal channels (BBC 1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4, Five) and I wondered if I get a signal booster if it will work?

Also, I am in halls of residence at uni, so if I got one, the connection would be:

Aerial wall socket -> signal booster -> Usb stick -> my laptop.

Does anyone know if this will work, ie, will the aerial on the roof let me just boost the signal for that one socket, and none of the others.

    Any help will be appreciated.

EDIT: it uses the reciever frequency's below - not sure if this will make a differnce on me using a booster or not:

    DVB-T Parameters:
    - Carrier type: 2K or 8K
    - Guard interval: 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 or 1/32
    - Code rate: 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, 5/6 or 7/8
    - Modulation: QPSK, 16QAM or 64QAM
    - Channel Bandwidth: 6MHz, 7MHz, 8MHz

    Tuner Receiving Frequency: VHF:174~230MHz UHF:470~862MHz

I've got a similar problem at my place. I have no rooftop aerial so I have to use an indoor aerial. In the end I bought a powered indoor aerial and now it works fine.
