After recieving advice on which Linux is best for my needs, i installed it but upon booting the "hotplug subsystem" it hangs and doesn't resume. Please help me out because i really want to use Ubuntu seens it kicks butt compared with Vista. (i saw the VS. video and i must say i was impressed with Ubuntu)

To be honest with you, I have never experienced this before and therefore am not positive about what may be causing the issue. However, when you boot up and you get the option to "start or install", I believe there is an option to check the disk for defects. I encourage you to do so. Secondly, are you positive that your cdrom is not failing. OS installations can prove to be very stressful on cdroms and you'd be surprised at how many people I've seen blame cdrom failures on installation cds, including myself. Give those things a go and let us know how it turns out. Sorry for the long wait
