For the last 5 years or so we have been with Pipex. We pay £23.44 a month for a 1000/256 connection. I knew we were paying over the odds so started searching around for a new ISP. I went to the pipex page first and they offer 8mb connections only! ranging from £14.99 to £24.99. I was going mad and sent them an email demanding they upgrade us from the outdated solo1000 service we are on now. Then I started reading peoples messages about p2p throttling so I think thats pipex out the window now. I dont want the upgrade, nor the new 12month min contract which would go with it! I had my heart set on the sky adsl but its not worth it because of the speeds offered around here. The BT wholesale page says its 1mb max with the possibilty of 3.5mbs. My nan lives literally 15ft from here and she could get 2mb up to 4mb! I dont quite get why. My sister lives out in the middle of shropshire and can get 8mb! Up untill a few years back the place I live was the biggest housing estate in Europe and we aint worthy of getting decent adsl! So does anyone have any suggestions for a cheap, preferably unlimited ISP? The quicker the better of course, but without one of these hidden throttling terms in the small print. I always thought it was the files I was downloading which weren't allowing me go over 25kbs.
well i´m with Virgin.net, i´m unclear about speed, i think i´m using 512 meg, i think it´s 15 quid a month, with NO 12 month contract, i think the contract you agree to is only 2 months, but happy with virgin
