i just bought a new system (un-built) its still being shipped to my house. i got 1066mhz ram speed and my motherboard supports this. i made sure to check. but i didnt even think to look if the processor does. i got amd 6400+ dual core. it says it only supports 1000mhz. is this going to be a problem? or is it actually good that the ram is faster then the processor. also, do i need to switch any settings around or will the processor automaticly adjust the ram to a slower pace? thx for the help.

It sounds like you're confusing the HyperTransport speed and the memory speed.

However, to answer your question, RAM can run fine at a slower speed. RAM speeds are like tire speed ratings. A tire rated for 150MPH will run fine at 40MPH, and the same is true with RAM speed.

The memory controller on a AMD is on the processor. With a X2 6400 DDR2 800 is the fastest supported. Even if you have a AM2+ board with DDR2 1066 support, its only supported if your running a Phenom. But it will work, it will just back clock to DDR2 800 running the X2 6400.
