Of im trying to update my bios because it is more then 3 years old. i have an asus a7v8x-x and i go to the driver section at asus.com and it tells me to choose 3 things 1.Select a product (Motherboard) 2. Select series (this is my problem) it has lots of things for ex: Accessory,socket1,socketA,socket370,socket423 and so on? 3. Select models
1. Select Motherboard 2. Select Socket A (462) 3. Select Your motherboard model Then click search and the driver and BIOS list will be shown!
This should be where the drivers you need are. if not just serch you mobo number at asus.com support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?Type=All&model=A7V8X-X
Ok guys now i need help i found an Asus utility bios update thing. i think its called Asusupdate anyway i it asked me to shooce what i wanted to do 1. I choose bios update from the net 2. choose server the first one didnt work(i think it was asus.com) 3. tried the next one it didnt work 4. The last one was a .de website so im not sure what language it was but it seem to be working so it asked which update i wanted the final one in 2004 or the beta in 2005. so i choose beta and it brought some different language so i went back and choose the Final 2004 so all is well it installed i restarted(which i have to manualy because my pc will not restart like it tries but it just gets to the log off page) what do i do . if this doesnt make sense just ask me and i will tell u better. i know it didnt work because i ran Sisoftsandra and it still told me the bios is over 3 years old anhd its flashable????
I download mine to the desktop and update from a file. you will get a zip file Eg. A8V-ASUS-0208 Choose Update Bios From a File select you bios zip file and it should happen. Hope this helps. P.S. Update from the internet never worked for me either
Now that I think about it, I had trouble with the Asus update off the internet. Personally, unless there's a known problem affecting my board, a newer code for CPU's is needed, or some necessary fix is in a newer BIOS, I leave it alone. This is pretty much the way you want to do things with the BIOS: if it works, don't fix it. Sandra always will say that you can update your BIOS, even if you have the latest one. You can update your BIOS but that doesn't mean you should.
