i currently run a amd 64 3700+ with 2 gig of ram, but am finding this startign to get a little slow.

    i have a nforce4 sli socket 939 (designed for amd64) motherbaord and
want to upgrade the processor, can i upgrade sufficiently to another
processor? if so what would it work with, or if not would a Intel Core 2 Duo
E6600 be noticeably better with a new m/board

hope you can help many thanks in advance

Well a simple Reformat might do the trick. Also try downloading Advanced Windows Care V2

Slow in what area(s)? Core 2 Duo is great, but it won't do you any good if the problem is something to do with a resource hog or a heavily fragmented hard drive.

it is slow in general processing.

i play football manager and other games where it has to process as opposed have good graphics and have noticed that it now takes quite a while to process/load during game.
this also applies for multi tasking 3/4 applications at the same time.

would this be a good setup:
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz Socket LGA775, 4MB, BOXED w/fan
    327806 - ABIT IL9 PRO, Intel 945P, Socket-775, ATX, SATAII, DDR2, GbLAN, PCI-Ex16
    313834 - Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 2048MB Kit w/two matched Value Select 1024MB

    thanks
