hi, i have just upgraded to SME Server on my server computer, i am wanting to create floating profiles, so that both of my computers (on windows xp pro) can log onto there acocunt which are stored on the server, so that i can logg into the same account on all of my computers, so i understand i have to connect my computers to the domain, well the domain name for my server is celery, i got to my computer on my main computer, right click and select properties, then go to computer name, and network id, and it seems i have to click on this computer is part of a business network and i use to connect to other computer at work, coz if i click on that its for home use only, i cant chose the domain, anyway, i got to the part were it says enter user and password, i am unsure what to do here, so i tried to enter user and password for the server, then the domain (CELERY) and it said it cant find an account for this domain, or somthing like that, then on the next screen, it said it cant find the domain, what am i doing wrong, can anyone help me on this matter?
I don't know if you have done this part or not, since you haven't listed what you've done on the server end, but you must do the following: Setup server for domain Add user account for yourself and whomever else will be on the domain Create domain groups Add users to applicable group(s) Define shares If you want shares to automount on the clients, edit your netlogon.bat to reflect this In this respect it is no different than setting up Windows Server as a domain controller. Here is the SME Server documentation which covers all of this.
