upgrading from WIN 98 SE to WIN XP home

    i have tried to upgrade from WIN 98 SE on a new computer but i am getting problems where it says it is mising a file, i thought i would use a different XP home disc, i tried and same error missing files, i thought cant be three times in a row but again same error third different XP home cd, i cant seem to figure out what is wrong, WIN 98 SE works perfectly fine so why cant i install XP home on my machine, it is a new machine, Athlon 2600+, 512MB, 80GB any advice please

    I would suggest that you backup any important files and do a clean install of XP.

    Is it saying its missing files from the CD?

    Try to backup all important files and do a clean install. I've had many problems with windows upgrades.

    yes it is missing files when installing from the cds...
