Lads, friends, experts. I'm considering upgrading my mobo from from it's current pathetic (though utterly reliable) gigabyte with pentium 550mhz(yes only 550) to something more "up to date." It does'nt have to be "all singing and dancing", say onboard sound and graphics,2.6 cpu, 512 ddr, some usb ports, that sort of thing.Have been looking on ebay for similar, preferably some sort of bundle with cpu in place the ram I can sort o.k.Any ideas what other sort of sites this kind of thing could be found on? I suppose I'm in the market for used from someone upgrading. As I say I don't need anything fantastic, just a bit faster, not as old fashioned as my present but hopefully just as reliable.Any advice would be gratefully received.Webby.
Shame..... Just sold my Ol' reliable PIII 650 yesterday..... I am assuming you are looking for something a bit more recent though..... What is your main use? It could be that with a more powerfull system, you might want to do things that you did not necessary thought of before.... right? Are you planning to build your self? Also, it will help to know what sort of budget you are concedering.... The guys here will give you as much info as you need (some of it you will not need.....LOLOLOLOL ) See ya soon
Thanks,Shabashuali but a little more than that perhaps. Haven't really thought about price but a mobo went with a 2.6 Athlon for £50 this week.Don't mind paying more. Main use would be internet, word processing, basic cad drawing program, photo processing.Maybe eventually video processing, such as transferring analogue to dvd, that sort of thing and also some minor scale desktop publishing.
OK you can get pretty good systems from Aries. Heres one with with a Sempron 2800. Just use the options at the bottom to upgrade it (e.g. upgrade the 256mb RAM to 512mb). You can pretty much configure your own system here and the starting price is just £398.99. http://www.savastore.com/productinf...vastore&product_id=10284027&pid=5&rstrat=3169
www.overclockers.co.uk do some great tower-only deals and they do CPU's, Motherboards and RAM together in a bundle.
