Hi, I was looking on the net and I found a website that sells a USB Freeview adapter: http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/pci.html Its this one on the page, priced £49.99: {HA 4169} Freecom Freeview USB Stick (Awaiting Stock) Can someone please tell me if this is worth it, ie do you have it and is it good value for money? Also, is there anyway I can operate this with a Remote Control? If I was to buy this would I not have to buy a TV PCI adapter. Thanks for all of your help, Skribla
I don't have it, but I think it would be ok for using with laptops as its quite portable. You will be able to operate it with a remote control. It does the same job as a normal internal PCI TV card.
ok, thanks. So would it be ok to use on a normal desktop computer? What controller could I use to operate it. also, can your recommend any software that I could use to record TV programs, preferably that is Free. Thanks
You get a remote control with it. Its USB so just plug it into a spare USB port and off you go. The software normally comes included as a package.
USB freeview adapters usually come with aerials...a freeview box needs a wideband aerial (able to recieve digital signals) to work properly, I think a freeview box with a decent aerial would be better than a USB freeview adapter, unless the USB adapter relies on an aerial attached to your house then I think they would both be even, although the freeview box you have the option of having it connected to your tv...
i found that you dont need an outside ariel for freeview boxes a couple of months ago, i got this small inside ariel, had a booster on it, and i could pick up freeview signals perfectly, now i am wired to the outside ariel, and for some reaosn, i get no signal at all.
ahh cool, well if it works for you then go with what works best...I was just saying what I had heard and read about those boxes...
ah, the only problem with my indoor ariel is that, my dad knocked it off the tv and it snapped, and did not ever get good signal again, then i bent it all can sky work off any sort of indoor ariels?
Sky? Sky is satellite TV, so no you can't use aerials unless you use the video output from the box to connect to a TV card/usb adapter.
if i get the USB adapter mentioned above would there be anyway that I can connect a better aerial/ booster to it and get a better signal this way?
Yes you can add a better aerial, as the packaged one is replacable. Just click more info under the product description.
