usb hard drive unknown device

I posted a similar problem several months back, but this one is different..I got a new usb case that was working fine for some time. Now when I plug it in, Windows Xp (sp1) says that it is an "unknown device". The hard drive isnt seen by windows or partition magic 8. Anyone know what the problem could be..

The hard drive itself works when inside the computer and is already formatted. I have tried it on master and cable select inside the case. The case is usb 2.0, I have tried it in both a usb 2.0 card and a usb 1.1 card. All other usb devices work properly.
 
Do you see it under Disk Management, as the USB device? (Right click 'My Computer' -->Manage. Go to and expand Disk Management if it's not already expanded.)
 
If there's not a driver for the USB enclosure, there's the possibility it could have gone bad from the way it's looking right now.
 
Theres drivers for win98 but when i tried to install them winxp said that it has no information about the device because it is recognized as unknown.
