i have 2 usb problems.. 1. i'm using an old sb61g2 shuttle xpc and am supposed to have 4 usb2.0 ports in the back and 2 more in the front. my bios is set so usb 2.0 is enabled. however, when i check it out in my device manager (win7), i only see one "enhanced usb" listing..all the other usb controllers listed are normal. i tried downloading the usb2.0 driver from shuttle, but they only point to doing a windows update. after checking windows update, no usb 2.0 options are returned. i've tried removing the usb driver and having win7 autodetect, but to no avail - still installs normal instead of enhanced. any ideas on how i can force all usb ports to be 2.0? 2. when i plug in my usb hdd, it would sporadically disconnect and reconnect, making transferring large files a nuisance since it would cut out in the middle of the transfer. has anyone had this problem before, and were you able to resolve it? if so, how? thanks! -a
on point one, my computer does the same. i have 2 enhanced ports and 8 regular. on number 2, i've had cable slip loose, but thats it. also, if you have transfer speeds above 1 MB, its running in USB 2.0 mode. USB 1 (in my experience) won't ever reach that.
