Is Bash Burner the name of the burning software you have, or do you mean you want to burn it from a BASH Unix shell?

DSL uses the Fluxbox window manager. You can install Fluxbox in Debian if you like. It's not as fully featured as KDE or GNOME but it's a lot faster

KDE has plenty of nice widgets and things if you're into that:

... but you have your choice of many different desktops in Linux, and KDE is only one of them. :) Debian will give you the option to run any you like, and switch between them whenever you like.

ok i have about 8 hours so i can type alot now

ok i have 2 drives (and a 3rd usb dvd) one drive is very slow but works fine for live cding DSL but cant boot xubuntu with it(or any other ubuntu flavor)i dont know about any other linuxs becuase i dont have those cds but i can boot to DSL with the slow one then burn a iso with the fast one

and for loading ot ram i dont know if thats what i need to do but in xubuntu i can boot from the faster cd drives sand burn to the dvd but... i dont have that much ram and it runs out of memory before its done downloading i think i got about 30 out of ~160 i can could uninstall some of the packages while im in the xubuntu live but htat would take for ever and might not even work

so to my thinking is that running DSL from my slow cd drive then burning with my fast would be the best route but i could boot with fast drive and burn with the external dvd but that could just make things more complex

so back to the basic question at the start of this topic

How do you get the DSL cd burner app to work (i hate command line but im learning)

o and ps i wish command lines had help files

ok i figured out how to install DSL now im not stuck in lice cds but now im gonna try to get debian from insdie DSL

im doing this becuase i found an article on how to do this i might just get xubuntu if debian isnt so nice

update: i decided to go with xubuntu i have it installed it sorking just fine i burned the iso and all is good im now 100% linux cheers for me all tho i dont know anything on the fileing system of linux im happy to learn it im starting to figure out somethings like linux is alot faster than windows and at the sametime it has more funconality than my win98 did im sure xp if good at doing things but its so bloted my sis just bought anew computer with xp pre-installed and i deleted about 900mb from it with in the first 15 mins
