I've been thinking about getting a new card for a while and I've decided that now is a good time. I'm running a Gateway DX4710-05 with Windows 7 x64. Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz 6 GB ram (upgrading to 8gb at the same time I swap out the card) MB: G33M05G1 Power Supply is Rated at 300W but I'm also upgrading to a Corsair ATX 750W when I go to change out the card. I don't need anything too high end, just better than the integrated piece of crap that I have now. I'd also like to do anything else that might be needed while I'm at it so if you have any ideas let me know. Any help would be appreciated. After some research I think that a Sapphire Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 would be ideal for what I do. Any thoughts from anyone?
if you're ready to settle for a HD5750, then may I suggest a HD5770 - it's great for all kinds of stuff and even for casual current gaming at high to ultra settings especially seeing that you'll get such a load of RAM... excuse my curiosity, but what is it that you do on that machine?
Mostly multimedia stuff. I do some gaming but nothing hardcore. I would like to play Modern Warfare 2 comfortably though. I'm not into gaming as much as I used to be but I'd like to be able to play with a high comfort level when I choose to do so.
Well, then let me reassure you that HD5750 will run MW2 on high for sure. Hell, I played MW2 on my XFX GeForce 7600GS at high settings (on 1024 resolution, though, but anyway) and good performance. So, unless the price gap between the HD5770 and the HD5750 is important for you, go for the HD5770 - you'll have some performance reserves for the future. that's just an opinion. I know I am happy with the buy.
