video card issue/bios update?

all games are freezing and unfreezing
yeah i was trying to narrow down my porblem for a long time and a month after i got all my components i finally found some one to swap hardware with. So it turns out its the graphics card. eVGA geforce 7600 gt. i read in a forum that some one who updated the bios on the graphics card fixed the problem but i don't really know how to go about that, if its anything like flashing a mobo than it shouldn't be that hard, but if you go to evga's website and driver updates there is just a large list of various numbers under the bios updates and i have no clue which one to use. any other ideas of what to do give your input

firstly i'm not sure, the word for the BIOS in a CD or DVD drive is called "firmware" i never heard of grfx card update, i dont know if you can update it, you should be able to (in theory) although i've never heard of it but someone else may know
 
ok so i called evga and they said to try to udate the card bios yes "firmware" but i have no idea how to do that. would it be in the bios somewhere or would any of you know how that works
 
well a firmware update on either a CD or DVD drive is ususally done by running an executable file in a directory / folder that also contains an updated firmware file (usually *.bin)

i know its not in the BIOS
 
You will first have to visit This page to download your latest Video BIOS. They should provide instructions on how to update the BIOS correctly.
In the event they don't provide the instructions, it's as simple as grabbing NVFlash program, copying it and the latest BIOS to a DOS boot disk, running the boot disk and back up the old BIOS using this command:

nvflash -b filename.bin
Where, filename.bin is what you choose to name the backup, then running:

nvflash -f filename.bin
to flash the BIOS. Just be sure you don't reflash the BIOS with the original version.

If you've listed your Video card correctly, you should download the
256-P2-N555 BIOS.
