Which card manufacturer do you prefer? I'm an nVidia man myself, I just feel they've shown the most innovation and better products since the geforce 6 series, most geforce6's will usually seem to outperform an ATI card that was thought to be on equal playing ground (but I do like ATI as well). Also I like the nVidia display properties utitity and the gefore 7 series looks pretty nice. Tell me what you think.
ever since i got my 9800pro im ati, but i gotta wait til i get a new card to make an informed decision. that sli 6800 is looking damn tasty.
6800 as in vanilla like mine? Or any 6800 (GT/Ultra)? I'd wait for the revamped line this June, the top card is as good as 2 Ultras!
Although they have been great, Geforce 6s don't seem to be outperforming the X8xxs quite so noticably and in some cases they lose out. I'll say that they have the advantage with bragging rights as they use SM3.0 even though ATis compression technology helps, not as much as SM. If I had to choose I'll go for nVidia. Because thats my card but i know that the 9x00 series would 0wn it.
I have an ATI, though I could really care less about name brands. I'm kinda put-off on ATI though for their lack of linux support. I just care about what works, nothing more.
Addis when I said that I was sort of thinking of the 6600GT vs. X600XT, 6800GT vs. X800Pro, 6200 vs. X300, 6600 vs. 9800 etc. In those cases I believe the nVidia is the winner. Though yeah the X800XL is a nicer value than the 6800GT for the performance you get and the the X800XT/X850XT etc. will outdo an Ultra in most tests easily.
