Hey, currently using Vista and Windows XP now as my Vista installation broke, but anyway working now, I was aware before that when I enabled AA/AF in games that on launch the screen just clickered then an error message came up saying something like Oblivion.EXE has stopped working.., so I was like, wtf, so I messed around with the graphics settings, and I disabled AA or AF in Oblivion settings, launched the game and yay it loaded, but its the same with all other games, so I went to the ATi site, thought oh goodie the 7.2 drivers are out, still the same problem, looks in the Release Notes, I notice the notes say about some games having problems with AA/AF, but not Oblivion or any of the games I play, so I am wondering, is it a compatability issue with my card, or are other people experiencing this problem too? Also, any Nvidia users experiencing the problem?
I can run the game Oblivion without any problems in Vista with an ATI card (x1600 mobility). But you should set the 3D default setting to Balanced. And AA and AF to Application Managed. But I've noticed that the DEP technology in Vista can cause programs and games to crash. To resolve that, right-click on My computer, and select Properties. Click on advanced settings. At the part Performance, click on Settings. Select the tab DEP (data execution prevention). Choose the 2nd option, then click on Add, and then browse for the executable of the game (Oblivion.exe). Then click on Ok on both screens.
I set it to use application settings, I dont think its anything to do with the settings in the ATi drivers, also there is no Managed setting for AA or AF :s, it all works fine with the 7.1/7.2 drivers in XP so looks like it must be vista?
