First of all, the HDD is working all the time and slowing the system down... then I get the blue screen of death (no idea why), and the firewall is off and I can't get it on and to make matters worse, there are all the time error messages saying failed this, broken that etc...

Believe me since I had to buy a Windows I got Vista but if I had xp I'd have installed it without a doubt...

Now my question is: do you know any maintenance tools (i.e. registry cleaner) for Vista? Also, does anyone know the cause of the constant HDD activity?

    Thanks for the help! ;)

All I'm asking for is a maintenance program like TuneUp utilities 2006 for Windows Vista, cause it's getting pretty buggish at the moment...

Thats one of the drawbacks to taking up a new OS because not everything works as you expected...

Anyway, how about [google]CCleaner[/google], it might help. Also checkout Windows Vista RTM Software Compatibility List - IeXwiki.

You might have a antivirus software monitoring everything you do, which could cause constant HDD activity.

thanks a lot! yeah believe me, if I didn't have to, I wouldn't even use windows... I got Vista because I thought it's stupid to get XP when a newer OS is there...
Tell me another thing please: Will there be any problem with installing XP PRO SP2 on 2 machines?

If you have 2 licences for it, or a multi-user licence then no. Otherwise you may encounter problems with Windows Activation, unless it's a corporate edition which doesn't need activating.
