    Hi all

This is the first time I am troubled by this issue....
I have installed Debian on my laptop and I am using Xfce. Until now I was using Xubuntu and never had this issue.

I installed VLC but when I try to play an AVI file, I get sound but no video. I tried the default output, X11, XVideo and open GL but to no avail. When I click on the Video menu and go to Video Track, I get two options 'Disable' and Track 1. 'Disable' is selected by default (WTF???) and when I select Track one, it simply goes back to Disabled.

MPlayer seems to play the files fine so I am really puzzled.... I would use MPlayer but I really do prefer VLC....

Any help is much appreciated!

Maybe VLC is missing the appropriate video codecs. You could try to install the open source Xvid codec, if the AVI file contains DivX or Xvid video...

    Hi

I had anything and everything from the repos which had Xvid and Divx installed but to no avail.... As, per usual, I started getting wireless outages and the system started playing up, I gave up and solved the issue by re-installing Xubuntu.

All back to normal now.... sweeeet....
