I've run into some problems with my used amd xp 2000+ system, with some crappy off-brand RAM. Replacing memory/mb/cpu at this point in time is not an option for me.
The only way to get it to run stable at 133mhz fsb was to up the cpu voltage +.1V, and the memory voltage +.3V. It would not boot at all until I upped the memory voltage.. I have not tried lowering the CPU yet.

Anyway, through this I've attained the stock 1.67ghz and so-far stability. My temps of course are much higher, peaking 60*C (33*C case) during a 1 gig video compression+web browsing.. immediatelly dropping several degrees once compression had finished. Right now it's idleing around 54*.

Will it be safe to use this increase in voltage as long as my temps don't get any higher?

I would lower your volts NOW! That's way too high to run an AMD!! If your ram doesn't work out of the box at 133mhz, no voltage increase you've either set timings wrong or it's a bad stick.

Yeah, don't risk it like that, wouldn't want to screw you're rig. A good temp. is in the 40s but up to 50 is still alright, much over 50 C and you risk shortened life span, to perminant damage/fried proc depending on how far over you go. I'm guessing the stick is simply two cheesy (like mine) to work well with you're cpu, generic memory often can't meet a cpu's overclocking needs as I found out.

I've found it to be stable at only +.2v to the memory. So, its just that- crap memory. Processor temps are 50 or below under stock voltage.. Looks like I'll stick with this.

Better stuck then without a righ:), just pick up some half-decent name-brand ram and you should be good to go.
