Im having a bit of a problem with the speed of connection with my two computers.
PC1- AMD64 Athlon X2 4200+, Asus A8N-E, 2GB RAM, 7900GT, Tagan PSU, and a nVidia nForce Networking Controller(NIC) and a FA311 Netgear NIC.
PC2- P4 3.2(775), Asus P5GD1, 512 RAM, 6600GT, Enermax PSU, and a Gigabit Marvell Yukon NIC.
Both PCs are connected on Netgear Prosafe VPN Firewall FVS318 and Netgear DG834GT acting as the ADSL Modem
16Mbps - 24 Mbps Download speed broadband.
Here's the thing, PC1, using nVidia nForce Networking Controller(NIC) connected to the VPN Router, the Download speed is only upto 4Mbps. using FA311 Netgear NIC connected directly to the Netgear DG834GT its download speed is upto 8-10Mbps.
With PC2, Gigabit Marvell Yukon NIC connected to the VPN Router, its running Download speed is upto 16Mbps - 19Mbps.
Both with the same IP Settings and Cfgs. Both using ZoneAlarm Firewall and AVAST Antivirus.
Do you think its the Giga NIC thats making all the difference? I just need a second opinion on this before I buy a new Giga NIC.
