Just been looking at a new HDD and I see a bit about Western Digital Raptors and how quick they are. But concidering the £120 price tag for what is only a 74GB drive, is it worth it?

That really depends on what you're doing with it. If it's just normal usage, it's probably not worth it; you'd be better off with a slightly slower drive with 2x the capacity.
 
The Raptors are a 'server-class' hard drive. I'm sure you already know this, but the Raptors spin at 10,000 RPM and are the only ATA drive to do so--beit SATA or PATA. WD doesn't have a SCSI line anymore, so unlike Maxtor, Hitatchi and Seagate, they don't have to worry about their cheaper ATA drives eating into their SCSI sales. That and I believe the Raptor is built a bit more robust than a typical SATA or PATA drive, and that does add to the expense.
 
yea the raptor has very nice properties in ms, but the gig comes at a price, if ur a power user or a complete showoff ud want it, over reviews its even better tthan some scsi drives.
