Hello fellas, i'm a newb to this forum and hope to find some answers to my questions. I currently have a compag presario s550t running 2.6 and 1.5 gigs of ram; my vid card is radeon 9200 128mb. I wanted to know if my video card is capable of supporting a dell 2005fpw monitor's native 1680x1050 res? From some of my research i dont think it does......anyone know of any other possible AGP cards that do support 1680x1050? I've looked at the websites for both nividia and ati, and none of them indicate 1680x1050 as some of the possible resolutions for there cards/products; kind of a newb when it comes to vid cards these days, any help/feedback is appreciated.
Hey, welcome to the forums. According to ATI's official specs on the 9200, that video card supports up to 2048x1536 @ 85HZ -- well above what you want to do. All the best, -AT
wow thanks for the prompt response anti.....so what you are basically saying is that as long as my vid card or any for that matter, that can go above 1680x1050 will be able to display at this particular res with no problems?
Yes, that's pretty much true. Any limitation on the display resultion below the maximum supported resolution is an artificial barrier, not a hardware one. So if you find your card refuses to display at that resolution, try using omegadrive's ATI drivers instead of the stock ones. He adds a lot of resolutions and refresh rates that aren't in ATI's official drivers.
