If I get the following, do I need to order anything else? I mean does the thermal paste and heatsinks and stuff come with what I am ordering? Also, how difficult is it to put all of this together? (I haven't ordered yet, looking for input) case cpu video card mobo ram
The CPU is retail, ie meaning it comes with everything you need. If it's OEM, then it usually only comes with the chip. Your'e good though for that. Rest looks good from my limited knowledge although the 420W PSU in the case *might* not be enough for that card, considering its quite a beast. Also do you have a hard disk, as you appear to have missed it from the list. Aside from that, looks good. Someone else can confirm what I've said.
I think yor power supply will be fine to power all that m8 but if not you can always get another one later! besides from the HDD everything looks good!! if i was you i would but some "artic silver thermal paste" made by cool master this is better then the regular white thermal paste you get with your processor. hope this helps Dave
Well it wouldn't be economical for him to get an extra PSU because he didn't get a good one in the first place. For the hard disks, IDE drives are cheap now, even though they're being replaced by SATA drives. If you want you can always get a SATA drive later when you need it and get a cheap but good IDE drive from Western Digital or Seagate. I'd stick to those two because they're known for high quality drives that perform well.
While Kingwin isn't on the same level as Sparkle or Antec, they seem to have decent PSU's. It's a little higher spec (at least from the pics at Newegg) on the amps than my Sparkle 350W, but just by a tad.
Ok cool, so if I get all of this stuff, could you guys help me install them if I run into any snags? I am not sure how tough it is too do this and I don't want to mess my new computer up. Do I need to buy one of those static armbands or anything special like that? And yes, I do have a 120 GB Special Edition Western Digital drive that I can use. It is not SATA, but for now it will work.
yea m8 ill help you and im sure everyone else will! i would get an anti static awrist band just to be safe. also make sure your computer is plugged in at the socket at the wall but not turned on this will earth any static u have in you when you touch your compuyer case. hope this helps Dave.
Make sure you have a clean surface to work on. Do not drop the parts like I did and if you have kids lock them in the toilet, give your wife your credit card and everything should be ok.
Is it easy to hook the mobo up to the case and then hook up the rest of the other parts to the mobo? Just curious as to whether this is an all day process once I get all of the parts?
well if you have a "smart" case, you'll be able to slide out the part that the mobo goes on, and then do all the putting together outside the case, then just slide it back in. Otherwise you'll have to fix the board down, and add to it, which can get fiddly if the case isn't roomy.
