What can I do to get rid of trojans that are on a system file?

My laptop is almost useless at this point, I was using macafee anti virus software and now my comp is so slow it takes five minutes to turn on. I downloaded avg like I have on my other comp and I have three trojans on my system files. I can not heal them and I am afraid to put them in the vault cuz they are user files. Any ideas on how to get rid of them?
 
My best advice:

HEAL the files even if they're system files. Afterwards, use your XP disc (hopefully you have one) and restore the files missing or damaged.

Don't do a system restore. I heard it makes your system worse and i don't know how. Just don't lol. But if everything fails... a fresh installation of XP always works :)
 
Yeah that would be best. After you vault them... restore your files with the XP disc. its simple:

Go to start > run. Type in CMD
Then in CMD... type in SFC/SCANNOW
 
I deleted what I could, and put the trojans on system files in the vault. I have a copy of xp, how do I just replace the isolated files, when I insert the cd, I am prompted to go through full set up including entering the cd code.
 
When you're prompted type R to get to the recovery console which is a command line version of Windows where you can use commands to replace your molested files / programs. In this case you need to use the Expand/Extract command, I'm afraid I cant remember which but If you you Google you'll find they're well documented, however that method is a little advanced by some peoples standards and you need to know a little about CLI. If I were you I'd try to boot into Windows and and Use SFC.EXE like scorps65 suggested. If that doesn't do the trick then you may need to use Recovery Console.
