I have heard that you should leave your PC on, that just seems strange to me so I don't do it. So I always turn it off when I am done, I could turn it on and off 2 - 3 times a day, but then I was told that all of this "cold" booting could damage the computer. What about hibernating or sleeping, is this better. Maybe all of this is BS and it doesn't even matter.
    Thanks for any input.

it doesnt really matter that much it matters on how much u use it. id say no to hibernate, but if you cant keep yourself away from the computer every 10 minutes then standby

if you use it occasionally just shut it down

I hibernate quite a lot when in Windows. Leaving it off will save electricity, especially if its a meaty system.
