Hello all I am new to the whole networking thing. I am trying to find a new router I currently use an older Linksys G router but I am thinking about purchasing one of the new "N" routers. Everywhere I read there is good and bad about it so I am not sure what to do. I am looking at the Linksys WRT600N or the D-Link DGL-4500. I like the idea of the 600N being a "storage" link unit and it is dual band but I hear bad things about it and about the storage function not working so I am at a loss. If anyone has used any of these products or has knowledge about high end routers I would greatly appreciate your help. Please let me know your advice would be appreciated I look forward to hearing your answers thanks to all and have a good day.

some people think that dlink router are crap, but, i cant confirm this because i've never owned one, realistically you will probably only be able to connect wirelessly at the theoretical speed of 144Mbps if you enable N speeds and not the theoretical maximum of 300Mbps, obviously N routers are quicker than G routers

if you want a complete geeks guide, look at this page

[ot]only people like me read stuff like that wiki page for kicks[/ot]

Edit: BTW: what budget do you have ?
