Depends on the motherboard. Some motherboards have voltage and CPUID codes to handle anything up to a 1GHz chip, while others didn't support much past the low-end PIII's, or even past the PII 450's.

This is my computer+motherboard description. If it doesn't trouble you guys, can you tell me the best cpu upgrade I can get for my computer? It's an older Seanix and therefore is only compatible w/ Celeron+Pentium. Thanks.

Hmm...google isn't giving me anything, nor is seanix site. I'd call them and see what that particular motherboard can handle, because I'm really not able to find jack.

I would think that a low end pentium III is right. I checked my motherboard manual - and it says "Slot 1 cpu support available for Intel cpus Celeron, Pentium II, and Pentium III to 1999." PIII 550MHz would be around the max i guess.

Besides checking eBay, you might see if some local shops have them. Slot 1 CPU's aren't exactly commonplace these days.
