At the moment my system is not all that id like it to be and my bank balence has just risen to a point where i can upgrade something. Now here's the thing, hat would be the first thing i should upgrade on the following system

    AMD sempron 2800+
    Nforce3 250gb ut (64bit)
    512ddr
    geforce 5700le 256mb

Im involved in the gaming scene and i would realy value your opinion on which "bit" would best be replaced replaced at the moment.Thanx

Whats your budget? The most ideal solution would be to completely replace the motherboard/CPU/graphics card with a PCI-E, A64 setup. But thats not gonna be cheap.

The problem with getting a good graphics card thats AGP is that you'll eventually need to upgrade to PCI-E and may end up costing more.

It also depends on how long it'll be before you upgrade the entire system. If you won't be upgrading for awhile, I'd look at getting a GeForce 6600GT, which can be had for around $140-160 USD. For around $200 USD, a Radeon X800GT is the best shot. Given what you have, it'd be optimal to move to a PCIe system sooner than later, so if you do upgrade, spend the money on a video card, but don't go overboard. I wouldn't spend more than $200USD on a video card for that system if you're going to do a major system overhaul within the next year or so.

The X800GTO (AGP) is actually a better deal for almost the same price but anyway the point is I'd suggest saving some money and going all out. At this point your ram and graphics card could both use a boost. While another 512Mb of ram would onlly cost about $40 or so the graphics card is nothing to skimp on. If you're not planning on upgrading again for awhile I'd save the money and get a completely new rig to stay current and leave the upgrade path at least somewhat open.

You could also try purchasing a Athlon 64 entry level processor like a 3000/3200+ socket 939 and get a motherboard with a good IGP. That'll hold you down until you save up enough to get a real graphics card. There are socket mobos that ASUS,BIOSTAR and AsRock offer with intergrated graphics on the level of a Geforce 6200 or Raedeon X300 henice the name 6100 and X200 series. These chipsets are able to play demanding games at mid and low settings such as battlefield 2 not fear.

All you need is a good amount of ram like 1gb and since you have 512 now you just need an additional stick and these boards also come equipped with a PCI-E slot so you can get the newer cards i have this set up and have had a good experience so far and planning to get a 6800GT -7800GT later on this spring.

If u do become interested in this set up look for a BIostar T-force skt 939 board or a ASUS board very good overclocking abilities at a cheap price. 75-90 USD.
