What was your First Build specs

    I just want to know what people first build specs were and possibly get some old skool specs in like from p2 p1 or before that maybe if anyone had VIA chips and which or any other no name processors post you first build please

    mine:

    P3 866mhz 133 fsb socket 370 chip processor (not slot)
    Mobo intel 815eea 3 dimm slots 4 pci 1 agp sound and video
    256 pc133 ram 186 pin i think not 168 not sure
    video card: crappy Tnt2 16mb riva and built in intel 815eea graphics 4mb
    Hard drive 1x 3.4gb 1x10gb
    optical drives dvd rom drive blk
    cdrom drive white (kept from old gateway case as backup)
    Floppy defective (made all floppies put into unusable threw away week later):mad:
    Case gateway 2000 G6-233m gutted out and modded a little. piece of :swear: but durable
    Psu included with case 200-230watt
    R.I.P. parts intel 810e mobo w/no front panel connectors scrapped immediatly
    cdrom drive jammed when recieved kick the :swear: our of it
    floppy drive murdered-:D

    Afraid mine are modern, I'm still using my first build:
    Gigabyte K8NS-939 mobo
    Athlon 3000+ Winchester
    XFX 6800 128MB
    512MB of "v-data" crap PC3200 ram (upgraded now)
    Hitachi 80gig HDD
    LiteOn combo drive
    Blue Nemesis gaming tower
    Came-with-case Orion 400wt PSU (upgraded now)
    SoundBlaster 56k modem
    Arctic Cooling Silencer 64 Ultra CPU cooler
    Hopeless flickering 15'' VistaPoint CRT that somehow produces a very good image.

    I upgraded the ram and power supply but otherwise it's the same deal.

    My first rig:

    Cyrix 300
    Venus motherboard with SiS integrated chipset AT formfactor
    48MB SIMM RAM, 4MB dedicated to on-board video
    5GB Fujitsu hard drive
    48x Memorex (bleh!) CD ROM

    That's what I started with. I ran Windows 98 biyatch!

    one word wow i would guess he was using microsoft 3.1 or dos on that i wish i could go back in time with a new A64 comp to the days of the intel 486 Dx 33 or intel over drive processor days and see what the people would say.........

    I don't rember exactly, but the monitor was between 13"-15", and most likely some version of DOS 3.x ...Windows really wasn't very popular yet back then. In fact, I used mostly DOS (and sometimes Norton Commander) until the release of Windows 95. Even in 3.1, you were basically just running a GUI on top of DOS anyway, so games ran much better in pure DOS.

    Thanks man, wow now I feel just fine with my monitor, just like you're first one except in color. DOS gaming, well you had a lot of games at your disposal, Duke Nukem all the way.

    Actually, I did play Duke Nukem 1 when it was new, but I don't think it was even out yet when I had that PC.
