In my ECC class we use this "xilinx" program to transfer programs to a cpld. My problem is that when we transfer to the CPLD we use the Parallel Port and for some reason we can only transfer if we are in an Administrative account. If we are in a student account we are denied access, basically what happens is the program tells us that no CPLD was found but when in the Administrative Account it works perfectly. Can we do anything to give the student account access to the parallel port? THANKS in advance
yeah i know, My teacher wants to figure out how he can use his admin account to give us access to it.
That's a little odd that there'd be restricted access to parallel ports. I can see users being unable to install devices, programs, etc. or modify certain settings, but I can't see why there'd be a restriction on access to something like a parallel port. It could be the particluar program itself, but I'm not sure, as I've not heard of, much less worked with the program your using. It's possible the program won't recognize the Parallel Port if it's not set to a certain mode in BIOS, but that's just a guess.
