Whats the best cpu cooler?

Hi, I recently bought an ASUS P5N32E-SLI with an Intel E6550 - 1333 FSB.
I want to buy the best CPU Cooler that I can find to assemble a good machine. :cool:
Can anyone help me and tell me what is the best cooler (with fan but not very noisy), in the market for core 2 duo processors?
I need memory coolers also. I have Kingston CL5 2x1GB. I know that’s not the best memory’s but it’s what money can buy :)
I was thinking in buy the Thermaltake Big Typhoon or the Zalman CNPS9500 LED Ultra Quiet, but there are so many others...
what do you think? Advices will be greatly accepted... :))

Thermalright's Ultra 120 is an excellent tower-style cooler, and currently rated one of the best, if not the best outside of watercooling or more extreme types of cooling. It's usually around $60USD + 120mm fan.

On the cheaper side of things, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro is an excellent performer for the budget. It's around $25-30 USD and includes a 92mm fan. It's not the Ultra 120, but if you're looking for a good cooler on the cheap side, this needs to be on your short list.
 
I want to spend about $70, no more than that. I don't want a noisy cooler, the less noisy the better.
I have seen here a 40 cooler comparison but really, I can't decide.

One of the think's that it worries me is the size os the coolers and the fact that they can not fit in the atx tower.
The P5N32E-SLI Motherboard have passive coolers arround the processor. That's may be a problem with the cooler size.
Can anyone give me more options?
 
I haven't heard of issues relating to the Thermalright Ultra 120 or other large coolers like that. I do know that the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro will fit just fine, as several people here have that or it's AMD-specific Freezer64 Pro.
The review uses the Freezer 64, which is an older version. I believe the Pro version adds another heatpipe and a better implemented fan retention mechanism. I don't mean to sound like a pimp for this, but I guess I am. It's quiet and if you set it to run off the CPU fan header and base it's speed off the temperature (there should be a BIOS option for this) it's nearly silent. Additionally, while it's bigger than the stock heatsinks, it's light enough that you don't need a special backplate or other mounting hardware to install it.

The larger the fan, the more air can be moved with a slower fan speed, which is why you'll typically see the best air coolers using these, although that's not to say there aren't other good units with fans smaller than a monstorous 120mm.
 
BB has alraedy given you two good options.....
Most if not all coolers, as crazy and extreme as they are, are designed to fit a full ATX tower case. You will need to measure the distance from your processor to the wall of the oposite side and compare to the sooler spec.

All decent coolers should have a compatibility chart to show mobos where there might be a problem. You just need to do the homework. This could actually be a way to make sure you are dealing with a decent make...

There is no right and wrong here. It is all about what you are planning to do with your CPU and how much money you have to spend.... Personally I would stick to big names. AC, Zalman or Thermalright/take, etc. I am still using an AC freezer 7 which is doing a grand job, cooling my 3.0Ghz prescott, despite having a bad, off centered fan.... :eek:
 
I’ve seen that people prefers Thermalright to Thermaltake Big Typhoon. When I see photos of Thermaltake it’s always without the fan. We have to buy the fan separately?
Other thing that I’ve seen is that some coolers have 4 pin cables (pwm), and others 3 pins (dc), ASUS Boards have the Q Fan in the Bios config that controls the fan speed, but only with fans that have 4 pin cables (pwm).
Does Thermalright Ultra 120 have 4 pins cable? And it’s better to have that or it doesn’t matter?
Asus launch the V60 cooler. What do you think of that? I’ve not seen any reviews about this cooler.
 
From what I understand, the Thermaltake does come with a fan.

The Thermalright Ultra 120 does not come with a fan, so you'll have to purchase one separately. Panaflo branded ones as well as the Vantec Stealth line are fairly quiet, although most 120mm fans don't run at very high RPMs.
