whats wrong with HL2

hi all,
i have a connect3d raeon 9800 (over £300 worth of kit!) and when i play HL2 the game skips and jumps this has happend all the time ive been playing it my computer have a p4 2.66ghz and 764mb of ram. can ne1 help me :mad:

Okay, down to business. I'd update my video card drivers first if I were you. Secondly, check to see if it does this when you play another game.
 
sometimes if u have extra RAM, programs start to take up lot of time to startup/load...try playing using 512mb RAM....also defragment your hard disk, use a defragmenting utility like Nortons Speed Disk...it may also skip if u have a lot of background applications in the taskbar..eg NortonAnti Virus...disable these before playing games....it may also skip if your motherboard supports AGP2X/4X...
 
n one more thing try playing the game using 16bit color n either 640x480 OR 800x600 resolution...lower the texture details n this may help to improve performance..
 
hl2 has good graphics but its not THAT demanding, im surprised ur gettin this, i doubt it, but try lowering water resolution (if its there) or AA or AF by a notch or two and check if it stops.
