Hi, I'm building a system and could use some motherboard advice. It will have an Athlon X2, one PCI express video card (i'm not a gamer so I don't need SLI), at least two sata hard drives and DDR ram (not ddr2). I would prefer an nforce4 chipset simply because nvidia makes linux drivers. My question is, what motherboard would work well here? It seems every motherboard I consider seems to have some problem like the onboard lan doesn't work well, or something like that. My budget for this board is around $100 US, but cheaper would be a plus.

Yes, I realize I had an earlier thread about an opteron system, but I've now decided to go the athlon x2 route instead. This system is still in the planning phase and the purchase won't be until school starts again.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Asus A8N-E

If you like to overclock, you can't top the DFI boards.
    MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum

I know you're not into SLI, but considering how cheap an SLI board can be had, it's not a bad idea to consider one, so here's a few:
    Foxconn NF4SK8AA-8RKS
    Gigabyte GA-K8N-SLI
Asus A8N-SLI (the oldest SLI motherboard, and one of the most mature)

When you can get an SLI motherboard for $70 or so, I'd certainly encourage getting one as you're not losing anything by doing so. You'd have that option open.
